well when it doesn't have a pet cock for reserve... and it's the first time you've ridden it... gas guages are nice. my ZZR got 160 easy... the RR 150... the Xterra 320 not that I could ride that long with out a stretch

there isn't one... when the gas gauge gets to the last bar... it starts blink'n... but no low fuel light.

and my ZZR didn't have shit. it just sputtered and caused you to simultaneously reach for the petcock and pray that you'd remembered to switch it off reserve at the last fill up

I have to agree with the rest, I don't have a gas guage at all. I have two trip odometers, and when Trip B gets to 150, I look to pull over. Eventually. When my gas light starts blinking I twitch and make noises like I'm at a rave. Seriously, at 150 miles it's time for a cigarette. I usually need to smoke or pee long before I need to fill up.

I get both.

Oh and I have almost Bingo'ed on gas more than once. My last experience required me to bounced up and down on the bike while going up a hill in order to keep gas around the feed line.
