Ah come on... I would accept and even respect that if he used that term regardless of race. When you only use it to refer to black people then you are racist. As far as "work ethic" goes, white people have consistently employed/forced/coerced minorities to do the hard work in this country. What could possibly be lazier than enslaving another race to do all your work? I have never met a lazier group of people than some of the white folks I've met down here.

You're reading entirely too much into it. He passed away quite a few years ago, or I'd ask him. I don't ever remember seeing a black person in that part of the world until I was an adult. Hell, when I moved away from there as a 12-year-old I was a bit shocked to learn that not every person was white and catholic...
