Nothing to do with the South. I hate greens and okra.

Creamed spinach is a steak house staple, along with mushrooms, onions, etc. Offered at any quality steak house I've ever been to in the States - CA, IL, NY, FL, GA, NC, TX

Fried okra is delicious IF it's cooked crispy! Not the coating, the okra itself! Too many places stop when the breading is lightly browned and you end up with slick-slimy-green okra! Nasty!
