I don't know if all Hurricanes use the same type of carbs (mine doesn't use a fuel pump), but mine has a fine-mesh screen on the intake side of each float needle jet. That's Honda's idea of a fuel filter.

You have to unscrew the whole jet to get to it. You won't see it if you just take the needle out of it. The screens could be clogged, missing, or have holes. And Gasman is right about the float level. CBR's run great with the right fuel level and
carb balance. In my view, the Haynes manual is better than the Honda factory manual.

I've got Keihin VG carbs in mine. never noted a mesh screen, in the service manual I've got on the laptop it shows there being a fuel filter between the petcock and fuel pump, like a big ole thing.

the problem was and still is that really I"m not seeing the filtration I need to be seeing. fuel filter I think is toast and needs replacement, which is only fair since I think its on the order of 20k miles and something like 10 years old. good thing I had a spare tank because the factory piece was FACKED TO HELL with dirt in the petcock and down in the bottom of the tank.

You will be surprised where they put those fuel filters... those carb pics I put up are off a Honda Shadow Sabre and it ran a fuel pump on carbs. The fuel filter was under the swingarm next to the rad resv.

I suggest you pull the tank too... rinse it out and see what you get.... you may be surprised... I remember when I started getting clogged jets and found this coming out of my tank (pre pingle filter)

as of right now, I'm working on putting the bike together, after finding my positive cable was TOAST, and the battery went boom while on the charger. (lucky I had a spare)

hurricane 600s have a big inline filter on the left side just under the fuel selector

as of right now, aside from a small issue with my battery not holding a charge well, the bike is 100% functional. now if the UPS man would just get his ass over here with my damned master link I could install my new chain, and I still need tires.

Well I would just get a new battery then... and fuck those liqued acid ones... get a AGM battery. YOu could probably get a HD AGM if you take yours with you. They are easy to come by, 1 year warrenty (sucks but standard), and I have ran one on my bike for 2 years now...

If you want to be a badass, get a big boar...
