My mom refuses to get rid of the old set of Encyclopedias that my dad bought over a decade ago.. I keep telling her the information is out of date, and the internet tends to be an easier and faster reference anyway. I did keep the classic literature books out of that set when I moved out, though. THOSE are worth keeping hard copies.

Hey, that $1200 worth of books makes you look plenty smarter than you actually are, so it wasnt a total waste!

My parents bought me a super expensive encyclopedia set back in the early 90s too. I used it for a few years, then I got access to more of the internet than prodigy was willing to let me see.
