My wife has it and has the same symptoms you describe. For her it tends to come on in times of stress. Do you clinch or grind your teeth at night? If you're not sure, have someone check on you at night and see if you are. Wearing a mouthguard that keeps a small gap between her teeth takes care of most of the symptoms for her.

Chewing alot will aggravate it, so don't chew gum or anything like that. Also depending which way you sleep you could be allowing your jaw to fall to one side, which can aggravate it as well.
You can try asking for a dentist who is a "TMJ specialist", although anything they do is going to cost hundreds of dollars and often doesn't get much respect from mainstream medicine. |

my GP gave me Soma & Mobic for nighttime useage because I grind my teeth at night, particularly when I'm stressed. It makes the joint feel so much better...
Yes, it does cause me bad headaches, but before I was diagnosed I thought it was ear infections... |

It's never caused me any physical discomfort to the best of my knowledge. It does freak out the dental assistants though and some of my friends when *they* can hear it click while I'm eating.

My best friend went the mouthpiece at nite route since he has a grinding problem. Worked well for him. Have you noticed any wear on your teeth? Could be an indication

Could be from that running in -15 C weather you were talking about in your other thread too! Severe cold can make you clench and end up cramping the muscles. Do you have your face/jaw area covered good when you're out in it? BTW, just for the record, I think you're completely nuts to want to run outside in that kind of temps!!!! :P
My ex (bitch) fiance developed it after a bad car accident when she was 20. Had to have a couple surgeries for it and treatments that were not pleasent at all so I hope that's not your issue. |
