That is the way I read it, except it starts at 80, not 81. Someone doing 80 on I95 is not what I would call a "super speeder". I would call them "in my way".

This is on top of their normal fines and penalties.

Oh yea, duh! Of course, I had to hire a lawyer to get it down this "low"...

If you are caught doing 75mph on a 2 lane road then you get the super speeder thing. It's just an additional fine to your current fine regardless of speedlimit.

If you are caught doing 85 mph on a 3lane or more road then you get the super speeder.

It's complete bullshit because I drive I-85 to work everyday and if you are doing 85 then you are a fucking waste of space. Georgia is just hurt for money. Infact they are so hurt that I've seen "Department of Public Safety" cops pull over cars when their sole purpose is to deal with commercial vehicles.

Here is an interesting experiment on the Georgia roads and in obeying th speed limit.

That is BS but the OP's article says "80 on any road in Georgia" qualifies...I hope that is incorrect.

Basically it forces people into a bad choice, stop and get raped by excessive fines or keep it pinned and hope the dont set up a roadblock.

It is well known here that if your over the ton and meet a cop it is better not to pull over.

I remember advocates of raising the speed limit used to do the same thing on the Jersey Turnpike back when 55 was the national speed limit.

oh as an interesting side note. (from someone who has had the pleasure) your insurance co will jack your rates even more because of your new super speeder title.

here they got me an extra increase because my speeding fines were of speeds not legal on any public road.

Lon -- my 86 in a 55 cost me $400 no comm though. did they tag you with felony for it?

Here 20 over gives the option of reckless or felony. so far i've been lucky on the felony part.

Shitty reporting, which probably means article came from the Atlanta-Journal and Constitution. This law actually went into affect on January 1, 2010 so this is old news to us. The DOT boards posted the info a month in advance.

How much higher? The new law titled HB160 tacks-on another two-hundred-dollar state-fee for any driver convicted of speeding at 75-or-more on any two-lane roads.. OR convicted of speeding at 85-and-over anywhere in Georgia. Those new state fees will be in addition to any local fines already in effect in the jurisdiction where the speeding offense occurs.
