The government isnt. I am, with my taxes. Which is why I gladly pay them.

I am unclear how it works under the present Canadian system last worked there in the early 90s but if someone was in a situation where Detox staff was mandated to report their presence (Cop Surgeon Military or whatever) They may have used your ID to avoid being reported. If it were someone within the medical community that would explain how they had access to your ID numbers.

Update: They found the guy who used my medicare #. I dont know anything else, except that he's currently in jail on other fraud related charges. Since medicare is the jurisdiction of the provincial governement, its out of my hands, but as I understand, they will be pressing charges anyway.

I should find out more when I see my councillor again, as she couldnt really give me any info over the phone. Even then im not sure how much they can actually tell me, but I will update again when I have more..
