I meant have you tried viewing other Flash content elsewhere besides where you are having trouble? It's very odd that neither browser works; that's why it sounds like your target site is the culprit. Try some of these to see if Flash is indeed working:

Videos play from Adobe's site. I clicked that link and played a few different things.

Check your browser settings.
This happens to me at work, but we are using IE6 still.

If you are blocking scripts on a site, the flash content won't play, and you will receive the "you need flash" error. Check to see if you're not blocking scripting on YouTube.

Are you using a script blocker, such as noscript? If not, there may be script management settings in some of the new browsers, or scripts can also be blocked by aggressive anti-virus/malware programs.
