I have heard of them doing that but never saw it here, except for on campus at SUNY stonybrook. They had a nice hiding place set up where they could see the sign but you couldnt see them untill its too late.

Won't do a thing....I'm guessing it went something like this..."we need 1 million dollars to line our pockets, any ideas on how to get it?.....I know...we can say we need to curb speeding in the Bronx. We can put up a few Slow Down signs with a skeleton that costs 50,000, then pocket the rest.."

I wouldnt be surprised with all the corruption going on in NYC, yet theyre always crying for money from the state.

Whats worse is that wont stop it but a stronger police presence may in some of the problem areas.

^On the Florida Turnpike between West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale, they used to put "FHP Speed Trap Ahead" on those signs. There never was one, of course, but it slowed traffic down for miles while everyone scanned every possible hiding spot for a squad car.

That's like the CT and PA signs that say "Targeted Enforcement Area" - worked for all of a day and now they are largely ignored.

WoW, that 20 mph speed limit in resi areas will definitely pump bucket loads of dollars into the local coffers. Can you imagine driving in a school zone everywhere you go in your town?

Some parts of NYC that can be prety fast. NYC doesnt focus on moving violations as much because the money gets spilt up among the state, but god forbid you park in the wrong spot theyre on you like flies on shit. They keep all the money from parking tix.
