This is another bad thing about the olympics. All the work that people do for basketball/hockey/soccer/baseball golds and there is only one of them.

Those fuckers in skiing do about a minute of work (other sports too) and can get multiple of them.

What about all those years the europeans/russians were sending pros to the olympics. All the other sports send the "best athletes" so hockey should be the same IMHO

I agree. That's why the miracle on ice thing was awesome even to a Hockey Hater like me. It was amateurs against communist pros, probably cause it's USA too, but that doesn't count.

I think basketball is definitely a prime example of the suck of pros in the olympics.

However, the olympics were headed into the toilet without pros and they do get more ratings now that they have them there. I guess we won't get the amateurs ever again, which sucks.

That wasn't right either. I don't give a good goddamn about the Olympics, summer or winter, because it's about money instead of sport. The committee is corrupt, the athletes cheat, and many of them are professionals. It's a sham.

Theres nothing stating olympic athletes have to amateur. Its just something 'purists' push as fact, but theres no truth to it.
