I wonder that too some times... I wouldn't be surprised if the producers don't help them "find" the fleet. Oh and would someone explain how "blocking" the factory ship prevents the harpoon ships from hunting whales? They should go ahead and shoot whales anyway, telling the hippies that whether or not they can process the animals, they'll kill them anyway.

I think the people are stupid and probably deserve to have their boat sunk for ramming ships. If you want to play, you have to be willing to pay. I could care less about the whales or whaling. I would slaughter an animal, bleed it, cut it up into edible portions, cook it, and then eat it if butcher shops didn't do it for me. The only time I wouldn't want hunting is if you were doing it to the point of extinction. Japan isn't doing that, they are specifically targeting a species that isn't on the verge of extinction and they also quota hunt so the population isn't effected, but facts ruin the point of the show. Their lethal sampling of whales also helps the fish stock in the ocean.

If you're talking about human-style intelligence then yes, we look to things like convolutions in the brain. If we're talking about things like ability to process sensory information, communication, and problem solving skills, then that is far less of an issue.

Uhuh...and whales are GREAT problem solvers right? If whales were so smart they would be able to avoid the hunters on their own....I will agree that they are smarter than the people supposedly helping them.

Unfortunately whales don't possess GPS, SONAR, and projectile weapons. They also have to come up for air, once in a while.

Never seen this show but after reading through this thread and someone discussing this show at dinner Saturday night...yep at dinner ...I may have to check it out.
