I dont do anything for them it just reinforces bad behavior. In the warmer months I may see them real fast and discharge them so security can toss them. Problem now is if they get tossed on a night like tonight they can die out there if they pass out somewhere and no one finds them.

it can be a vicious cycle, but people here have gone out of their way to help them get on the right track, but they seem to choose to do this and milk the govt so i wont waste my time with them unless one of them is realy trending downward.

That's the general idea I've read from all my ER blogs.

Typical night in ER?

I just read an interesting diagnosis in an ER. Damn...that reminds me. I still need to send you those links. Be on the lookout for a PM!

interesting how a few of them rag on PA's of course they work in east bumblefuck. Some facilities have different policies as far as billing and that sort of stuff, but we do generate a ton of money for the hospital. The laws vary state to state. NY is prety liberal in what we can do as compared to other states. I do not need a supervising doc in the building he just has to be a phone call away. On a busy shift with the right n urse and attending I can see 30 patients a shift if its all colds and sprained ankles. However we do work up quite a few patients here with appendicitis, cholecystitis, and other surgical cases. We also work the main ER and manage critical patients (well th emore experienced guys do)
