Bucket?
Dude... its on the list. With the SIL, BIL, Niece and their 2 dogs... and this sump pump exiting into the yard, the lawn got trashed... I had over 300# of dog running around this yard for the past 6 months... Still have to break up that concrete border and move out all those rocks. Don't like them. Then bring in a bunch of dirt, seed and straw over. But it has to be done in sections cause of the dogs. Muddy paws in the house won't be good. I almost wished I had... luckily we found it near the house. Exactly. Not like that. Quote:

It only happens in the spring of the year. Most of my neighbors pumps run almost constant. About 2 weeks of it running into the ditch (or however long it takes for the back yard to dry out) and then it's all good.

Found this pic. It is from about a month ago, this is why my sump pump runs at all. Once the water is gone, my house stays dry.

Well to "fix" that issue would require hundreds of yards of fill, moving the garage pictured, and completely redoing everything in the back yard. I don't have that kind of money at this point, and the possibility of a move in the next few years makes it an uneconomical choice
Even after that it's not a for sure fix, because the water back up is caused by frozen culverts under the streets. Happens in the spring and within a week or so they let loose and it's gone. I do plan on hauling in some fill to make it so less of the yard is flooded, however. Oh, and this pic is nothing compared to last year! Water was knee deep on me outside that walk in door. Up over 2 pieces of siding on the garage. My Cutlass was up on car ramps to stay dry! |

What about field tiling draining into a ditch?

Snow blocks all the ditches and the water is from the ditches backing up. If the culverts would flow normally, there would be no water in the back yard, so field tiling wouldn't help. Only thing that would prevent it would be to build it up.

Speaking of home ownership...I've had a company working on my foundation for 6 months. Spent $7500 and the thing is no better off than before. I've also had to do things during this process, like rip out the flooring in a laundry room and crossbrace the floor joist, tear off siding, replace rotted joist, etc. And like I said, the initial goal of leveling the back side of the house hasn't happened. So the wifey actually asked for our money back. The guy says........
YES!!! Can you fucking believe it??? He says they will come out and take the beams and posts back that they put under my house and cut me a check for my $7500. I've dealt with lots of folks in the construction business. This is just unheard of. Oh, and before you say that it will fuck up my house when he takes the beams out, remember that they didn't move the house a bit in the right direction. Also, they will be leaving all the additional footings they poured. Hell, I can put a hell of a lot of bracing under there using their footings.

Been there. Try having an underground spring running under your house. I had to drill holes in the concrete to keep the floor from cracking and had to dig a trench twice that length by hand
