just be patient with the Sargent... I've heard they need time to break in before people noticed the ability to stay in the saddle longer.

No problems - brand new suspension to break in, new chain, etc so I'm all sorts of set

Give me a seat like Trip's... I'll do 300 no issues I promise.
I can promise you, that when you ride west, with the bike all bagged up like that pic (and my bike), you'll likely only get about 170 miles per tank. I got about 240 per tank on the way to the rally, while I was down there, and on the first leg back. Once I started heading west, I was lucky if I could get 180. granted, I was going 80-85 MPH, but those were the lowest ranges I've had on the bike in 4k miles. I'm back up to 250 per tank, so there was nothing wrong with the bike.

And 101, yes, it is a tad wide for splitting, but I've done it with panniers on the bike. It's 40 inches wide with the side cases (6 inches wider than the bars), but on the way back from the rally, I had two cars going side by side and they kept going back and forth. One would speed up, then slow down, then the other. I'd get behind the one pulling ahead and he'd slow down. Move over, the other would slow down. Fuck it, I split those bastards after a few of these moves. Yes, at 40 inches wide, my squidly ass split two cars at highway speeds. Probably won't ever do it again, though.

well I'd love to get a F650GS Dakar... or the F800GS if I could find one for sub 10k... but financial situation that I'm currently in... says VStrom or DRZ...

being bike only right now is the only reason I'm considering a new bike cause god I need something either more comfortable for long hauls... or something that has 4 wheels.

That's odd... cause we were doing about 75-80 from Cincy to Trips... can't see why you'd get less going west unless you just didn't hold your speed as well as you thought... (though you do have a throttle lock don't you?)

I think you may have gotten bad fuel or something... no way even increasing 20mph you should drop 70 miles in range... that's 10mpg less!!!!
