I was on compuserve. Went to MSN like two years later. Stayed there til we got high speed cable.
Speaking of AOL, there was a civil engineer (female) at work that's Russian. She was still on AOL a year ago and paying for 25 hours a month. When we found out, we laughed excessively. We had a bunch of fun explaining to her how many years had passed since everybody started offering unlimited hours. If you knew this lady, you knew she would never say something like this as a joke, this was completely serious.

What's the typical rule about email with these companies? Do you instantly lose your email addy after you cancel your service? Or will they auto-forward your email to another address for a certain period of time? |

Anyone remember the days when you can enter a search term into (in pre google days) a search engine and come back with no results?

I remember going over to my exes house, she had put a curtain made of AOL free internet cds over one of the doors. She was a hippy, cheating bitch. We also used to shoot at those things.

Friends in the education world hooked me up with Toronto Free Net in 1991. It was a text-only portal to the Internet, run by the universities in Toronto, and accessible via modem. There was no graphic interface, so web pages were only usable in hypertext, but the web wasn't big then anyway. For motorcycle information you went to newsgroups, like rec.motorcycles.
... if you could sift pat the flame wars.
