Agreed, I am seeing more sport tourers that are a bit more sport oriented. I was/am happy with my aprilia for that reason. Bikes like the FJR and the connie are way more touring oriented. Now withthe new vfr, the sprint GT and even the ninja 1000 there are more choices out there.

For 30k I would expect at least a few bells/whistles for the touring aspect of things.

That, and you are dealing with an unknown brand (with untested customer support), usually with a limited dealer network and difficult parts availability. Realistically how many people are willing to put up with that instead of buying one of the new BMW K bikes, even if the prices end up being the same. Unique things are often unique for a reason.
