All i'm sayin' is, "$600 laptop wanna-be that can't multitask? Well, I can explain, see... wait a minute, what is this? It's a shiny new iPhone! Just look at how shiny it is!"

So it's more believeable that apple reversed the way it operates 180 degrees from everything it has done prior to this phone.

you can't buy publicity like this. I too am thinking marketing ploy. It was all over the news this morning where you'd normally see a 2 minute "Yup, there's a new iPhone coming out, big surprise" and it would be forgotten over the next commercial break.
This has gone viral so fast it caused whiplash.

Exactly- Apple is a brand marketing company that also happens to make electronics. In marketing, innovation- keeping things fresh- is crucial. So, yes, I absolutely believe they'd do something they've never done before. You don't think they've got a team of people brainstorming new ways of getting viral campaigns out via high-profile blogs? They probably have more people working on that than they do on software.

To the one blog they threatened legal action and refused to give them an early review of the iPad?
Now their lawyer sends them an official request to return the item or else letter... Apple doesn't need the viral campaign like this, they are more likely going to be on the losing end of a promotion like this if people suspect this kid may get fired for "losing the device." There is too much negative with a campaign like this, Apple would never risk their brand on something this stupid. Hell we are all talking less about the device and more about if this was on purpose or if the kid is getting canned. That's too fucking negative for Apple. |

This isnt a ploy, its the real deal, some dude lost a field test phone and probably will loose his job too now that it has been opened up. This wasnt about the product getting out or showing off the new case (which was spotted in some old ipad leak pictures a few months back), this was one dudes big screw up.
