I like this. Pretty certain she will, too.

Smith & Wesson Bodyguard® 380 - $289.95

It's gotten a lot of bad reviews for reliability issues, however. Owners claim it is comfortable and accurate, but prone to jams and falling apart. Apparently, you have to look out for certain serial numbers; EAB models addressed the problems prone to earlier EAA pieces, but EAF and EAH models have issues, too.

Why was I under the impression 9mm is so much cheaper than .380? 50-round boxes of each are selling for about the same prices through CheaperThanDirt.com. Last time I was looking at handguns was about this time last year; has the cost/availability of .380 ammo changed?

Call up CDNN out of Abilene, TX. They always have sales. You can download their catalog but a lot say "call for price."

They deal all over the world and are on lock down. No advertisement, no walk ins. They deal over the phone and will ship to tye dealer you want it shipped to. They do charge a little more if youuse a CC.

It's a nice looking gun and feels decent in the hand, but even in the store something felt off. The button for the laser is shit, and the take down pin didn't seem very well seated. I thought it might just be a problem with that specific gun, but when I looked into it, it seemed to be common complaints. It's good to see the cost on it coming down though. The local shops were all looking for about $500. For that, there are plenty of other guns I'd much rather have.

Good luck finding this gun in any shop. Every where around here is sold out. I haven't heard the good, bad, or the ugly.

Yes, 380 ammo prices have come down significantly from last year. They were running at least $20/50 rounds. Now you can find for under $20, not quite as low as 9mm but only a couple bucks more.

But if there is ever a shortage again, we'll be back to last year with a 380 shortage. (This is why I started reloading.)
