External hard drives and DirSync are even better, because they keep you backed up on a schedule.

Not getting defensive at all, just pointing out certain facts about you.

Unless you're running a RAID configuration, or doing a cross-backup, all that you're doing is creating multiple points of failure.

I have my win7 computer setup as follows
2 int 500gb drives 1 int 1TB drive 1 ext 1TB drive connected by eSata first 500gb drive has all the system\programs crap Photos and music are kept on the second 500gb drive, with the photos library synched up to the 1Tb drive, which also houses movies, email backups (synched) and app installs (iso's), . The external drive has a synched backup of music and a second synched backup of photos. It also holds the backup system images. I also have an external usb drive with system images of my base Win7 installs for my Main computer (gaming), Laptop (media center) and second desktop (older P4 that I use for stuff that I dont want to clutter up the main computer with. Also has a backup of all my software installs) All else fails I have an Ubuntu 10.10 box (which also has a Winxp vm running on it). Then I have my work laptop...which I really should be using right now but I'm typing in this thread to procrastinate being its close to end of day. Fuck you derf productivity ruin-er |

I only use laptops these days. Don't backup shit either. Cept maybe my music and /d/ folder. Enclosures really come into play when one of the computers gets a bug or comes due for a fresh install
