I have a kindle, and it is great at what it does, and it would be cool if it did more. When it comes time to replace the kindle, it will be replaced by a tablet, but more than likely not an apple tablet, there is a slew of androit tablets coming out with much better specs, more features (USB port!!!) and the ability to multitask, all in a package 1/2 the price of the itamponpad

I do mot of my reading with audiobooks these days so the erader feature doesnt intrest me, but a comic/manga reader would be great. Now that Im out of school I dont use my laptop for much text input or high powered number crunching anymore, mostly I use it for surfing on the couch and on the road.

I got the smallest "perfornamce" laptop Dell had at the time (XPS M1330) but its still bulky enough that it rarely leaves the house. The battery dies so fast that I have to keep it plugged in most of the time. It also takes too long to wake up from hibernation and connect to wifi, and half the time it takes repeated attempt to connect to my wifi. I dont like netbooks because its a just a smaller, cheaper version of what i already have. I still have to deal with the annoying interface.

I have an iPod Touch and I love it, so when people say the iPad is just a big iPod touch I think thats a good thing. Ive had mine for over 2 years and it just works, ive never run out of battery, even on long road trips, its finds and connects to wifi without a hitch, it goes from "Sleep" to "On" in no time at all, and the interface just works.

Im just waiting for the 1st Gen bugs to be worked out and the next set of features.

I just don't see it being useful for travel if that glare issue is that bad. If you are indoors, the laptop would do just fine.

A mac laptop may be the way to go since you have that much issue with stuff working.

So it costs as much as a laptop, but doesn't have a keyboard and can't run normal software? Wow, i think i'll go out and buy a dozen.

See I thought it would be a good alternative to a laptop. I even thought about potentially getting one. But not even a USB port? I already have an iphone, I don't need a bigger one. I love my iphone and love my ipod, but I don't need more of the same!
