Will it shock you to know I'm going with Phoenix?

Here's why:

Vegas: Fun to visit, however, living there, no way, unless you like 24/7 insanity, which is what the main area of the city proper is, or, boredom outside of that area.

Atlanta: Humid. High crime rate. And I'm just not a fan of that area of the country. And yes, I have spent a fair amount of time there.

Jacksonville: Flat. Humid. I don't know how much of a concern hurricanes are in that area but, no way I'd live in a hurricane area again. I do love the ocean but were I going to live near it again it would be in SoCal.

Ft. Worth: I know nothing about it but is it different enough from Austin to make moving within the state worth it?

Phoenix: People bitch about how hot it gets here for 2 to 3 months of the year but what they don't understand is after you become acclimated, it really does NOT feel that bad. I'll take the hot over that bullshit white stuff any day. I know people who don't enjoy the heat or who just visit for a couple of days don't get that, but, its true. Other than that, there is year round riding here, awesome roads, you're a few hours from the ocean if you want to see it, mountains everywhere, you can drive 2 hours to visit snow in the winter if you'd like, and now that the housing market is correcting IMO, awesome homes are very affordable. And while it is the desert, you're 2 hours away from VERY non-desert area.

Right now I'd ave to say Ft Worth.

Phoenix - Home prices are Dropping faster than Taters ex-wife's panties
Las Vegas - Too hot
Atlanta - Too much crime
Anywhere in FL - too crowded and not enough people who speak English.

You better come visit me here before you decide on that!!! If you're still trying to move that is. We NEED teachers in AZ. C'mon!

Okay, well at this point here is my take on all of these:

First off, I am a South Texan....I like hot, HATE cold.

Hubby is a pilot, and these are the areas that would be options sooner than later (none of these would be permanent, so if we don’t like it it’s not that big of a deal).

Atlanta: The only time I was there, to be honest, I felt very white and out of place. Also, Southern accents drive me up the wall. But, it is a big hub for aviation. This is the only city in these options where I know no one and/or have no job leads.

Jacksonville: I don’t like the beach. At all. My company’s headquarters are here, so there is that option for a job for me. Neebs and Shannon are there , so that is a plus.

Las Vegas: Again, I like hot. I am used to being close to other big cities and Vegas is out in the middle of nowhere as far as I am concerned. My boss worked at several casinos out there and has tons of job leads for me, and said she would make calls for me if we do move there.

Fort Worth: B-O-R-I-N-G. It’s an okay city, but I really don’t care for most of North Texas. It would be the easiest move, and a HUGE aviation area, but all I can say is, meh.

Phoenix: I have spent more time here than any of the other cities and I love it there. My only issue is how big it is. I have gotten used to the mid-sized city stuff and I like it. My roommate used to live there and would probably go with us if we moved there, but other than that we don’t really know anyone.

Tom
Ft. Worth is pretty coo... quite spread out, but still a decently cool city. COL is cheaper than Dallas, and only 45 minute drive or 30 min train ride away.

I would choose AZ, just so I could play golf year round...

Im with you, I dont DO cold!!

Las Vegas, NV - Too much of a party town for me...

Atlanta, GA - Been there, done that, burned the tshirt, I HATED ATL. Mean people, over crowded, but the more rural areas are nice

Jacksonville, FL - Doable, while not a big fan of FL, its warm, and hurricanes dont bother me. I prefer my area tho, fairly small, within an hour of major cities, and crystal clear water and truly white beaches!

Phoenix, AZ - Ive always thought it would be nice to live here! You get such a diverse place, and I like deserts!

Ft. Worth, TX - I grew up in the burbs of FW, its a great place, i mean come on, its TEXAS! How could you go wrong?

Well the airport is no where near the beach, so you don't have to go there if you don't wanna. Actually the airport is on the northside (I work like 5 min from there) which is the new up and coming area. Lots of new homes and shopping but traffic isn't bad up here (we live on the "other side of the bridge" so I cummute against the flow of traffic, which is great).

And NeonspeedRT is here too, don't forget!! (and Ninjakel is within driving distance... as are Rae, Katharine, and a mess of other Floridians!!)
