This thread just got full of awesome!
I just have one disapointment about the new show and i understand Speilberg wants the broad audience that graphic violence would destroy but... Dude with a 50 cal monuted in an old Pontiac shoots at almost point blank range at a group of shooters hiding behind old dumpsters...50 Cal gonna win every time. So authenticity fail. That said I enjoyed the story and see lots of room for development...

If the alien story is really deep, and it might be, i could get into it, otherwise i will likely not watch it for long.
Looks like there may be some classes of aliens, such as controlling "grays" that command the skitters. Also in the 2 hr pilot the most interesting point they brought up was the school kid who asked why there mechs are 2 legged. hopefully it expands on that. btw pretty lame that super high tech aliens need to train 4 laser sights on a target long enough for them to "lock on" before they fire the weapon....

There was a clip in the future episodes sneak that said "it appears to be human," but I doubt they showed what they were talking about.
