Bronco as bike hauler?

I haven't done it but here are my thoughts:

Short of having a vinyl top made, the truck will not be securable. Even with a vinyl top in place it still isn't "safe."

However, neither is a Jeep or a convertible. Heck, any truck is only a piece of glass away from being stolen.

If thieves want your rig, they are going to get it, period. Minimize your risk with insurance, a car alarm with ignition kill and parking in a well lit spot at a decent hotel (with security if possible).

When leaving the truck unattanded, don't leave anything inside that will attract attention (wallet, GPS, phones, iPods, etc.).

In short, I'd do it.

A standard pickup is lockable. Vegas has a car theft problem and I'll be doing some overnights there and in Pahrump for trackdays. And I'll have all my gear. I guess a Club is in order. LOL

Mostly I like the idea of fixing up an older vehicle rather than buying new right now.

How do you carry your gear?

I have one of those huge rubbermaid bins that fits everything I wear plus spare boots, gloves, helmet and shields and tire warmers. It is easy enough to grab and take that into the hotel at night.

Me too, but I take a grip of stuff like compressors, nice tire gauges, tools, etc. I guess another Rubbermaid bin isn't a bad investment

Perfect for truck camping. We have a spot we go to that you need a pretty decent 4x4 to get to. I haul the dirt bike up there, spend the day braaping around, come back, fold the midgate down, put the bed covers on...enclosed sleeping quarters. Awesome. Nothing like camping so far from people and city lights that you can see the dust of the Milky Way.
