Sure, since racetrack conditions would make it pretty tiring to use only 2 fingers for the whole race.

But for the street, what's the point?

I had shorty levers on the GSXR and 3 fingers were all I could fit on the levers. I was actually very comfortable using 3 fingers for clutch and brake. Dirt bike was a different story, 2 fingers all day long.

I'm pretty sure everyone else on the grid uses two fingers. It's not fatigue-related.

Why does he do it then? IMO, leaving 1-2 fingers on the bar helps give you more feel & control. Of course, Rossi wins races and I don't, so

I play the trumpet and learned how to play properly and well. Some of the best trumpet players in the world have horrible techniques when they play but they are still damn good. What works for them doesn't work for most.

I think for most people who ride sport bikes and aren't trying to go from 180mph to 80mph, the brakes on our bikes are extremely strong and 4 fingers aren't necesarry. But whatever works for someone is always the best.

Have you ever rode a Harley? If so you need all four fingers.
