It's not real common except on the NE coast area (from what I've heard) and I think it has to be pretty warm before it comes in. Our blizzard it was low 40's during the day then started dropping in the afternoon as the storm moved in and the cold front hit just right. It was thundering and lightning for a couple hours and by the next morning it was 19F with 40-50mph winds and whiteout conditions. I'll never see another storm like that in GA I bet.
