well, being a wildlife biologist, I cant blame you for needing 4x4. what you need is something like the toyota hilux diesel from the UK. but honestly, a jeep wrangler will work well for your needs, and probably be the best bet. I see them as a well thought out off/on road vehicle.
Alternately, buy a KLR650. |

it sounds like what you REALLY need is pretty much what you're lookin at. avoid the liberty. I hear they're a POS vehicle. How would a Toyota Rav 4 or older Suzuki Samurai work for you?
