Im interested in this whole concept of the absurdity of the drug war.

I think you guys are forgetting that most often the folks hurt in drug wars are the ones getting shot by rival gangs fighting over turf and product. Not getting shot and arrested by cops for selling weed. Just saying. Many of the ones going to jail are those who killed or hurt other people over drug matters. And you think these people are being persecuted for their behavior?

Yeah, popping Bobby on the street corner for selling you a bag of weed and sending him to jail for 20 years is ridiculous, but you cant seriously think that people like Bobby are the only ones doing time for drug matters.

The problem is that they treat weed like heroine, so Bobby's customer Joey ends up in prison too, for having a couple of joints on him.

True I forgot to mention him, but he still falls in the same category as Bobby and it seems many are discounting the gangsters who kill people over drugs in the drug war, as well as the murderers, rapers, molesters, etc that also make up the prison pop. They arent all Bobbys or Joeys.

The law is wrong. We have more people incarcerated than Nazi Germany, by percentage. Are you playing stupid, or is it not an act?

The problem is weed shouldn't be illegal in the first place. You eliminate weed as an illegal drug, you will eliminate a lot of people that shouldn't even be criminals.

Decriminalizing the user end for the rest of the drugs wouldn't be a bad idea either, follow the portugal model. All you do to the users by putting them jail is making them even worse criminals.

You really can't help the dealer end, if it's not drugs, they will find something else to make a quick buck that involves screwing the public over.

Creating a black market just gives him a job in crime more easily.

They aren't, but the Bobbys and Joeys have been (by far) the fastest increasing segment of the prison population due to the war on drugs. It's that absurdity that most folks rail against.

I agree that the law is wrong... but the law is the law. How many people are using/selling drugs specifically for medical reasons? NOT MANY... therefore, people have a choice... do/sell drugs, or don't do/sell drugs... They chose to do something that they know is illegal, they understand the consequences, but they do it anyway... Regardless of the absurdity of the law, they took the risk... they know the consequences.

It's probably illegal in your state to engage in sodomy, and oral sex.

You're probably a fucking criminal too.

Difference between me and you? Hypocrisy.
