There are two other good sushi joints and both in Beverly Hills, of course. Alas, you can't go to these places and not come out poor. A typical satisfying sashimi dinner would set you back $150/person. A truly fulfilling sashimi dinner is about $250/person. And we're talking minimum booze consumption here.

Also, there are plenty of mediocre and bad sushi joints out here too.

It's fresh seafood products either over rice (nigiri) or by itself (sashimi). Although some spices and seasonings to compliment the fish is fine such as freshly grounded rock salt, black truffle oil, soy sauce & wasabi, Ponzu sauce, etc.

There's a sushi joint in LA called Tengu (one in the LA area and one in Santa Monica), where the chef will give you the appropriate sauces to go with the morsels, or no sauce at all. They always vary the fish inventory. One day you would have live eels, the next day you would have toro from three different oceans served side by side.
I have no objection to rolls, but whoa... I would LOVE to try that place.
Probably a bit deep in the pockets for this po' boy, but it sounds amazing.

(correction... at those prices, I'd be taking out a loan for dinner ^_^ )

It serves great sushi. Not necessarily a great restaurant, but it serves great sushi. The decor is LA nouveau riche lame. The damn music is too loud. The bartenders are stuck up and don't know their boozes and wines as they want to think they do.

BUT damn, the sushi is awesome. The rolls suck though. The chefs purposely make the rolls suck because it's below their dignity to make rolls, but the management made them do it due to popular demands.

I go in, sit at the bar (call before hand to reserve a spot with my favorite chef on his work nights), grub down, check out and flirt with the hot hostess then haul ass.

I had sushi for lunch yesterday. Being preggers I had cooked seafood - dragon and California rolls. I could live on wasabi and ginger dressing on fresh salads.

I ate mine, and some of my husbands. He didn't like sushi when we met. Doesn't like fish... But after 3 years I broke him in and he'll have it with me provided it's not too raw and squishy. He'll actually eat raw tuna and salmon but not cooked.

Ok, let's just set the "raw fish" argument aside and ask the big question...
What the hell is up with all these no-fish-liking people?
I know everyone has their own tastes, but I just can't get over how many people are so opposed to it.
