The problem with not having a land line is, land lines will always have superior voice quality. So if you regularly chat with your family, have a long-distance relationship, or conduct a lot of business calls from home, you really need a land line.

Really?

Not my land line. Verizon in my area is pushing their new FIOS fiber based architecture, and aren't even doing proper maintenance on their copper lines anymore.

My phone sounds like fucking ass, and I've had them out here a half dozen times to fix it. Finally, the tech asked my why I didn't just upgrade to FIOS, because they don't care about fixing the copper lines anymore, and probably would refuse to run another line out, as all the pairs on my existing drop are shit.

I have half a mind to call the FCC and tell them I was pressured to move to fiber, and basically told to suck a dick if I actually wanted my land line to work.

I don't know anything about FIOS, I'm just talking about the old-school lines, with a corded phone. I've never had a cellphone that sounded as good as that.

I don't know anything about FIOS either. Read my post again.

They won't service my POTS (copper) "old-school" lines anymore, and basically told me to upgrade if I want my fucking phone to not suck.

Sadly, I still require at least one copper line, or else I probably would have gone to FIOS by now.

I'm just dealing with a phone full of hum and static until I get mad enough to scream loud enough at Verizon to come and fucking fix it right.

I have no desire to "chat" with my family, I don't have a long distance relationship, and I do absolutely no business calls from my home or any other place for that matter.

Oh...and I used my phone to answer a phone call today. You know what it did?....dropped the goddamn call.

Don't you live in the sticks? If so, there's your answer.
