Going to paste over my post on today's wrenching day....

Can't believe I'm first back to the thread....

Well we had our wrench day. I got mine and wife's bikes out of the garage and ready for the boys. It didn't turn out to be much more than wrenching, the weather was dull and shitty but it was at least dry so guys started to roll in...

Chopper Dave was first on the scene

So we got him up on the lift and started into his shifter linkage

The differences are more than just style...

Once we got the new heims on the linkage and mocked it up... BIG PROBLEM. The new hotness hits the jug fins. Try to find an offset, we had one from an old shifter in my spare parts... but need a longer bolt for the tranny arm... well off goes Dave and Uma in the SS to the hardware store and to pick up some beer...

Meantime while this is going down... we hear a pack of dogs coming... Big House, Big Al, Seatmaker, and Mudslinger show up... man o man you could hear them coming!!!

Big House goes straight to work on Big Al's new HID kit

Gut da bitch

I think Big House has done this a few times....

Then Cutter and Kam show up... start checking out what's going on

Big Al, Seatmaker (standing), Big House (working), Mudslinger, Cutter

Out front it was an array of bikes...

House, Mine, Uma

Mud, Kam, Cutter, Seatmakers (ready for its lift time)

Then Mad Dog (from New York) shows up. He was un-sure if he was going to, but this morning decided to make the trip. He was camping over in Canada and rode the extra 1.5 hr to come over and hang out. I give him BIG props for the ride and effort. It was good to meet him, and I'm sorry I wasn't more hospitable due to being busy with the wrenchin.

So I got Dave's lower wiring harness (only a few connectors) shrink wrapped, also pulled his gas tank again to get his speedo off, shrank wrap those 2 connectors, tek sealant sprayed the back of the tach, and re-assembled it all. Just to clear him off the lift so we could get Seatmaker up... we moved his aside till we figured out the shifter linkage.

Got Seatmakers Ridgeback up...

And here's why...

Nice hole from a sissy bar bolt, and it also fucked up the belt.

So within a matter of a few mins, Seat, Dave, and House got the rear wheel off. Kam and I get the exhaust off, the clutch rod out, and the front pulley cover off. Then we get the ball ramp removed, and clutch cable out of the cover.

During this process I was injured. The damn dog must have liked its scrapes and scars... I started to bleed out... damn...

Here's the cultrip to the pain for Seat and now for me...

But after I bandaged up my vageen I pressed on..

I think while I was busy some of the other guys were bored or somin... who knows...
mud, seat, cutty, mad dog

After Kam and I get the clutch cable threaded back into the cover (what a fuckin bitch). I get the ball ramp greased and re-installed and the cable hooked up.

Slide the new belt on

In the meantime, Mud and Cutty go to the hardware and HD to find Dave a new bolt for his shifter linkage. Mud knows his way around and Cutter wants to ride. Big Al's HID install is long SINCE done as you can see here with Kam walking around

Mad Dog's HD, Big Al, House, me, uma

Mad Dog's HD, Big Al, Kam (red), Mud, Cutter (who just returned)

More shots of the bikes out front and you should know who's who by now

And they're still watching...
Big Al, Mad Dog, Cutter, Kam, Mud, Dave

You can see here how seatmakers bike looks all rear wheel-less
Big House, Seat, Dave

Just hangin out

Big Al explainin to these boys how things just are

Finally gettin somewhere with the new cover

Clutch rod in and I'm adjusting it

Hell even Brinks wanted to hang... he's almost a big dog..big puppy for sure!

Next thing you know... seatmaker's got a new pulley cover installed, 2 new exhaust gaskets, pipes back on... hell even a new belt and back together!! HOLY SHIT... it almost did it on its own!!

New chrome always looks SOOO nice

And even better when it don't have a hole here

A few of the guys took off, cause of other engagements, but we kept on wrenchin...

Uma picked up some pizza for us boys that were left, we ate a few slices then pressed on.

Back to Dave's bike... all they could find in the thread pitch and length was this zinc hex head... it will do for now...

But the linkage still looks SIIICK

After we got done with Dave's bike and were done with all them... Mad Dog decided to hit it, somin about a date with the camp ground, a case of beer and a campfire. Can't say I blame the man. Super awesome to meet ya Mad Dog!!!

After that, it was just Seat, House, me and Uma. Seat and House adjusted House's final belt tension and we decided to hit up a local bar to watch the end of the UofM game. It was a good day... and I hope everybody ended up ok with their bikes that got worked on. Glad I could help. Everybody else that showed up to help and hang... good to see you. We got a heck of a good group here in Michigan!!

Thanks to my wife, for helpin out with store runs, beer run, pizza run, taking pics, and just being ooo soo cool. Good women are hard to find!!

And I'm thankfull for having good neighbors... cause you get this many bikes out front... and its not quiet!!
