And yet one wonders, if they are buying these sites that are wildly successful and popular already, why CHANGE everything about it that makes people stay? If they just left things alone, with slight changes, versus redoing everything and changing all the rules, they wouldnt go down in flames like they do...and most users would never have a clue...

Thats exactly right...and look at teh end result of their changes. I can assume they buy the forums b/c they are successful boards with a lot of activity. They come in and change everything...and everyone leaves and board activity drops to near zero.

You'd think they would catch on after the first couple.

I bet they make their money back in the first few months after each site is sold, and after that they get paid per click of each random dude that goes through looking up an old topic. Hell I probably made them $5 last night looking for the thread where I talked shit to myself for 2 hours.

Seems my friends from the NY forum are staying put, so I am in there somewhat regularly since we used CF to plan our rides and gatherings and that sort of stuff.
