I am not the one complaining about people buying automatics. I don't care if they buy manuals or automatics. Because we were talking about image. There is two different topics going on now. Keep the fuck up. If you don't care about image and just want something that is fun, you can get a fun car for cheap that has a ton of power, but isn't pretty.

The other topic is people buying autos and you not liking that.

I don't care that you own a Camaro. You wanted the car, you got it. Congrats. If Rae wants a Camaro and gets it, good for her too.

It's a pretty car, but if all you care about is FUN, you can get it without the image and cheaper.

They are still faster and have less power loss than a standard manual.

Actually, there's a few corners that are among my favorites. The left at the end of my street is one. Hard downhill 270. On mornings when my kid was late and missed the bus, I used to drift it taking her to school, as there would usually be dew on the ground. The truth is that HP induced throttle steer can be applied without tire noise or smoke, if done in a controlled manner. Proper use of the manual transmission allows you to maximize the throttle response by keeping the engine on the powerband to maximize your control. It's precision driving, and not everyone can do it, but I was raised playing with very fast cars, and I have a lot of experience steering with the back wheels. In many cases, I can move the car in a smaller area and with far more precision "with the throttle".

You're on crack. No auto is more efficient than a manual. At cruise, a manual has ZERO slip. Auto? Not so much, unless it has a lockup converter (which sucks). Remember; fluid coupler.

I am not talking about a standard auto. I am talking more about something like dual clutch sequential shift transmission. You lose power longer every time you shift with a manual. This combines the best of both.

What if someone gets the same relaxation from an auto?

Remember that's what this is all about, you like manuals, other people like autos and don't get the hassle of manual. Does it really matter to you if someone gets the relaxation from something else?

It's not about what's best, it's about what someone wants... Some people just can't seem to grasp that... It's about image as well. Some people want a brand new camaro to ease their mind, others its a beater that's been suped up for the track.... Happiness can come from feeling like a badass on public roads with a brand new vette or from running a fast time in a 20 year old car. Is either better? NO, it's all what sets your mental image of yourself at ease.
