FWIW... I did have a little bit of knee issues prior to the stroke when running long distances... haven't had any since, I've only ran with the VFF's so I don't know if it's the shoes or the month down time that solved the issue.

The sole is just to be minimalist. If thats all you are talking about, there are other minimalist shoes that have just as good or better soles for "barefoot" running without toes, but I suppose we will hear some awesome reason why you need the toes too. There is always justification why you absolutely need certain brands.

My knee is fucked from a recent injury. I highly doubt shoes will make a difference. Like I said, I am going to ask the orthopedic surgeon and see what he says. He is a bone and joint specialist after all.

Just got a pair of New Balances for street, got some Adidas trail shoe ones that I tried on that I got for a smokin deal online. Adizero or some shit.

no... I don't really care what brand... though I tend to stay away from Nike as I tear them up.

yes I know there are tons of minimalist shoes out there... my point was to compare the Fila cheep ones I saw vs the VFF's...

I could care less that they're toe shoes vs normal ones... the reason I bought the VFF's is because they wanted me to walk on the beach barefoot... not on this beach! so I got these to help protect my foot while still giving me as close to barefoot as I could.

I do know that my calves get a hell of a lot harder work out in these than any other running shoe I've had, and I've had quite a few. Yes that might be the minimalist style that's doing that but hey... I've found something I like and works for me. But I guess since you don't like it... it must just be me drink'n the coolaide

I saw those today, they do look very cheap in comparison to the VFF.

Yep. I have Nike Free 5.0 which are a minimalist shoe and love it. Most all of my racing shoes are a minimalist shoe of some sort. But some of the people I race with just have regular shoes and it works for them. Whatever floats their boat.

I have tried the VFFs on, but never purchased a pair. I can't bring myself to spend the money when I have the Free.

Could be the koolaid. Sugar can cure diseases. If the mind is happy, the body will be better. Believing something is true helps.

Also could be your feet fit the shoes and are comfortable. That's a biggie for shoes.

I should get a Flash costume and run up and down the street screaming "Zoom Zoom" like Sheldon from "The Big Bang Theory".

My wife picked these over the Bikilas but still thinks they are ugly. She said I can't wear them around her. I said they will give me better traction in bed. Not sure if she is sold on them yet but we will see.
