Just found out I have 16 years 6 months to retirement as I sit.

8 until I can, 11 until I plan to, with 2 promotions left to go... I was offered a job at a big telecom recently making slightly more as a recruiter for military talent. I turned it down, I just cant see putting in 15 years of total time (12 active) and loosing a life long retirement starting around age 42.

Yep. If I had it to do over again, I would have stayed in. I'd have 2 years left to retirement eligibility if I hadn't gotten out.
