Default Pull up!

I haven't been active for a while so I don't now if this is a repost, but I figured I'd as. Does anyone know why people aren't pulling up to red lights anymore? I like that I'm not getting tailgated but with a car too far back the light doesn't change. I'll pull up to a light and there will be a car two full car lengths back from the light, and the damn thing NEVER changes. Is there an explanation for this? Did I miss a meeting or something? When I pull around them and up to the line they get all pissed. What's the deal?

Me too

Here, tailgaters are out in force. So much so, at lights they inch so closely I am repeatedly shocked they don't hit people.

I try not to pull all the way up to lights because I have had issues in the past with cars and trucks nearly hitting me. But its not 2 car lengths, more like a half a car length, it also gives me a little extra buffer when a light changes to not get hit by a late-light runner.

I have only had that issue when said idiot is in front of me. They sit there scratching their heads wondering why the damn light doesn't change.

Along similar lines what the hell is it with people and the left turn arrow? More and more people seem to follow some kind of 6+ second spacing rule for the car in front of them. Of course this leaves a gap which the sensors for the light interprets as no more cars turning left. The dipshit who leaves the gap gets through on the yellow while everyone else behind them is screwed. I'd be willing to bet that clown drives around thinking they are the luckiest person in the world, they are the last car through every left turn light!

That's exactly what I'm talking about. One asshole sets the light but no one else can go. It's ridiculous, and I don't now where it came from. A few times I've had to motion people forward when I'm in front because my bike won't trip the sensor. It burns me up because when we're moving I get tailgated like nobody's business, but when I actually need them close they won't do it.

They don't pull close so they have room to escape if they're car jacked. ( unless you're in a big city/bad part of town, really? )

Last year in town, I was a couple vehicles back and the light wouldn't go green for us. Left turn got green light, opposing traffic got green and cross traffic.

After a couple cycles of sitting there, I got out of the suburban, walked up to the senior citizen ( more up towards the windshield than sidewindow) and said in a loud firm voice, You need to move up to trip the light so we can all get going.

She moved front and to everyone disbelief, the light actualy changed. ( I got a thumbs up from a few people when I walked back to the suburban )

~~~~~~~~
A light on my way to and from work didn't use to trip with my cycle. ( they since adjusted it ) I even purchased a magnet and added a couple more. I would pull up past the white line in what was usually a failed attempt to get a car to trip the light.
I put one "guaranteed to work" magnet I bought off ebay plus two 1/2" diameter by 3" long cow magnets on the center stand of my steel framed motorcycle and it still wouldn't trip the light.
My personal experience says don't waste your time or money with them.
