Biggest problem is the Pleasure miles.
If I only rode my bike out of necessity, then it would be a savings. But I ride for fun, cause that's the point, so it probalby comes close to equaling out in the end. |

You figure in the regular maintenance costs of both vehicles and the gap closes significantly. That being said, you can still save a shitload of money...

now what would it be if you rode a little 250 that gets 70 mpg... the tires last a hell of a lot longer... and your maintenance is cheap and easily a DIY...
going on keeping my truck 5 years.. and driving/riding 35k a year... I save 3600 a YEAR... or 18000 in 5 years! even with my ZZR I still save 9K... even if I spend 1K a year on maintenance shit... I'm still 4K's a head Last edited by Mr Lefty; 08-16-2008 at 08:07 AM.. |

For me its killer... being my bike gets at LEAST double what the SS gets.
That being said... Every other week when I'm at work I have a work truck so that eliminates that entire week of even sitting in my SS while it sits at work in the garage. Last edited by Gas Man; 08-16-2008 at 11:00 AM.. |

SS in the garage at work. The "Tonka Truck" aka El Colorado that is what is left of a work truck for me. Oh well, all paid for including gas, tires, oil, maintance, everything... And the the other gas powered tool in the garage... and it does wheelies!!! |

My bike gets like 45 and my car gets 17. I think I am losing money overall because 80 percent of my riding I wouldn't do in my car either, ie fun miles.

My Civic gets about 30 around town and the bike only gets 35...and considering I only drive about 8000 miles a year it said I could save $100.
But I have been driving the Miata much more which would make a bigger difference. The bike has become purely a toy since we got the Miata. |
