Internetz question???

Well I am officially fucked thanks to this Global Warming and all the ice it brought along. I'm guessing because of the power constantly going on and off (Often within seconds or less of each surge) it fucked my modem. Now I can't get on the internet. This is just pirated neighbors that I barely get but need for a temp fix. I got a damn homework assignment due online too. I think it's due midnight tommorow but I can be mistaken. Anyways...

I can get on the internet anywhere but my house internet. The Bell tech won't be here until Wednesday either. It shows the little diagram on my internet stuff where you see my personal PC and then the modem with the world/internet at the end. I get a caution thing between PC and Modem and then a big red X between modem and internet. I've hit and said yes to everything the damn thing asks and still no luck.

Is my modem fried or is it something that can be fixed via computer? Or a modem fix?

But damn this sucks. And what sucks is I work for a sub-contract of AT&T in which I've seen 3-4 power poles come down with crap loads of fiber, 1200pair of copper and so on, to go back up that night. Damn Service Tech can't make it until wednesday and I know how the ST guys operate. Pretty damn shitty. He'll come out and say something about how he can't fix it and that I need to talk to Alli Babba in Kuwait.
