Default steering head bearrings

Man this project has fought me every step of the way.

When I removed the upper outer race I broke it when chiseling it out. The lower race came out fine, I was going to use it as a spacer when trying to press in the new races. I was going to cut it with the dremmelso it had a little give so I can get it out of the steering head rather easily. Well that was a mistake, damn thing snapped in half.

I was able to use part of it to get the upper race set, but its not going to help at all on the lower. I may try to jb weld it since I will be using a threaded rod and some washers to try and press it into the frame.

Do you happen to have a bearing driver set? Something like this?

I have a bearing driver set, and that's exactly what I use for knocking races into place. A few good hits with a deadblow hammer and you're done.

I owe ya a beer for that one, will be off to HF later to get me one. I was going to see if I could find a washer of the right size to use, but for 30 bucks its money well spent.

Excellent. I know it'll be a good beer.

Also, go ahead and toss the race in the freezer before you head to HF.

Already done, made the top one go in a little easier.

Funny you mention the good beer. We were at a tasting for great south bay brewery on sat. Was talking with a lady whos friends drink bud. I told her I have friends who are on either extreme, they drink bud, or will pass on the yuengling or sams and ask what do I have stashed away

picked up that set at hf, should do the trick, I just have to put the race back in the freezer for the night then bang away at it in the morning.
