I did it once, but I was 19 and had nothing else to do.

One way ticket to KC had no job, no car and no place to live. I spent the next several months telling myself that tomorrow I'm gonna pack up and go back home, but I didn't. Worst time of my life, but I wouldn't have changed it for the world.

I would love to do it again, but I'm not gonna leave my husband(I kinda like him).

You should have stayed in Flint and finished your schooling.

Get your school finished with a real degree then apply for a government job.

Nope. Was close though. Me and 3 others from college said that if we didn't have full time employment within a month of graduating we would all go to Vegas and try our hands there.

I was the only one that had found a job I liked (working at a boat manufacturing plant).
They all packed up and left, and are all doing ok.

I feel ya man. I'm looking at 28 and still not sure what I want to do with my life.
I want a stabil "career" with the benifits and all that jazz, but I also want to do something I enjoy doing day in and day out.

Sadly, those two things are not the same...

I can't think of a single, rational career choice that I would ever be content with, let alone enjoy. I'm almost 30 years old and I've spent most of my adult life pretending to be something I'm not.
Probably a dilemma many struggle with. I know I do. I plan on getting back to school, but currently well, I am very skilled and competent but feel like I've done nothing with my life or failed at making myself a success. I am currently reinventing myself and frustrated as hell with it. Life's path isnt always the one we want to choose, but as adults we usually gotta man up and do what needs to be done.

I couldnt however just up and leave, the very thought makes me cringe. I like stability and order, and knowing what I might expect most of the time.

I second the "get divorced" before you leave.

I upped and left a went to florida once. And then did it again when I went to Vegas, but i was with my husband then, so I dont' know if that counts. I don't have that many attachments at the moment, and I see myself doing it again, maybe a few times.

Does your wife know you plan on leaving without her? You can get divorced in vegas in 6 weeks...we have no jobs here but school is easy

When I moved out of my Dad's house in Houston (17) I said fuck it and moved to Dallas not knowing anyone. Had 20 bucks in my pocket and a one way ticket. I lived there for about 2 years and ended up doing great. I then said F it again and moved to Omaha to be with my brother after his whore of a fiance crushed him. 6 months later moved to Denver to be with a girl... 6 months later went to school at KU (most my family lives within 2 hours of Lawrence) after that moved back to Dallas, then to Houston for a job then to Austin (best place so far) then back Denver (Boulder really) and now I am about to pack everything due to a GF which I have come to loath and move back to Dallas for school again... I can't express how much I enjoy moving to a new place and not knowing anyone and just starting over.
