Thoughts on this letter

My daughter came home and told me what happened in her class today, needless to say I wasn't exactly happy.

Dear Principal J,

My daughter, Q, who is in 5th grade came home yesterday and told my wife and I that her teacher, Mrs. S, used some inappropriate language in class yesterday. This is not the first time that my daughter has mentioned that her teacher has used inappropriate language for a 5th grade class.

My daughter told us that some of the children were acting out in class (dancing and singing), when they should have been studying for a standardized test. Mrs. S then told the class that they “need to pay attention or they will wind up in the retard class”. I was told that some of the other students in the class did report the incident to your office. I am all for the teacher maintaining control of her class but that was not the correct way of doing it.

Q has also told me of other instances where her teacher has used inappropriate language in the past. She also recently threatened all the children in her class who are participating in safety patrol because of the actions of two boys.

Mrs. S is an otherwise good teacher and my wife and I have so far been pleased with the progress our child has been making while under her instruction.

Thoughts? Too Harsh? Not harsh enough?

The teacher isnt bad, but this is the 3rd time my daughter has brought something like this to my attention. The first time was when the teacher used the word shit and damn multiple times in class on the same day, which I chalked up to a slip of the tongue, but then 2 weeks ago she threatened to pull all the kids who are doing safety patrol out of the program because two of the boys in the class lied about where they were going (said they were going to a safety patrol thing when there was none).

Anyway this retard comment just kinda pissed me off.
