Fuxored by the long, slow dizzzzzick of the law!
Back story quick facts:
*I bought my house 2 years ago. *house across the street from me was vacant, being attended to by the neighbor. *he claims he knew the owners and was taking care of it for them. *house is foreclosed on shortly after *Last year, strange, unruly people started living there, with an "understanding" from the caretaking naighbor, IE he was probably charging rent * they have been living there with NO electric! no water either i guess. *I had a few unpleasant run-ins with these societal leaches over the year, but tend to ignore as much as possible. This morning: I walk outside to go to work and i see a squad car sitting in front of the house. I walk over , and she proceeds to tell me she is waiting for a bank employee to meet her here to lock the house down! Hell yea! Always figured squatters were not a concern / priority, especially in tough financial times and there were so many of them. But johnny, or jeanette Law finally came through a year + later. I figured i would go for broke and tell her that the neighbor had been taking rent from them, and that has got to be some sort of scam, she laughed and agreed with me, but that was all. It was worth the shot. Bonus Salt in the wound fact: * all of 1 week ago construction on the brand new roof of this was completed. I still can't figure out who ponied up for the roof. Approximate retail value of $12K, but judging by the equally unruly construction crew, it was likely an off the books favor operation.

Glad to hear they are getting the boot.
I'm guessing the reason it took so long was that the bank just got around to actually taking possession of the property.

likely so, if the cop has to wait for the bank to take any sort of action.

Maybe they found a buyer/investor type and couldn't get financing with the roof in need of repair ?
Man that sux though. I'd hate to have a house across from me just sitting there and not being kept up but even worse having squatters there. There's no telling who they are or what they are up to. |

Hmm so this weekend there was a filthy older ford pickup in the driveway for two days and there were two latin gentlemen working with powertools inside the house. There has not been anyone in here since the cops shut it down. time to call the popo ?

I would. If only to make sure they are supposed to be there...
