The argument that certain words and images violate comuunity standards does not hold water. While in the 20th century, community standards were clearly more conservative it is a clear in todays society that our standards have changed. Religious groups claiming to "Focus n the family" represent a much smaller portion of society than they used to and it has changed from the role of advocate to a bunch of narcissistic entities who wish to enforce their own myopic view on everyone else. There are standards that I think are unique to the US. We rather not allow certain things on broadcast media but its not aligned with what the FCC is pushing. |
