Need your thoughts on buying this bike
I've been looking for a KLR for a little while now, and found this gem on craigslist, it has all the upgrades I would want to do except the xtra large gas tank, and the price is pretty damn good, almost too good to be true.

The prices on the old models have ropped since the newer models hit the streets.

I sent the guy an email that I will be up there on the 21st, I happen to be in albany that saturday for a housewarming party for a friend of mine, and he is less than 200 miles away from the place I will already be at on saturday. I was thinking about taking friday off work and driving up that day, spend friday night in albany, saturday at the party then sleep in NJ that night, then finish the ride home sunday after some NJ scuba diving.
I find that similarly age and mileage bikes in the northeast are 500 more, without most of the accessories he has on it. And the best part is that my wife is cool with the whole thing! I dont know how or why because I have 3 bikes sitting in the the garage now.

Its supposed to be a really good upgraded seat, kinda butt ugly but better than stock
The whole bike is ugly (klr's in general), it looks like someone made a big pile of glue and started throwing parts at it

Fuck that... KLR's aren't bad looking... just purposeful looking... I dig everything but the weirdo camel seat.

Just a few general KLR notes:
- K&N air filter decreases performance on a KLR. It doesn't breath as well as the oem foam/oil jobbie. If you're going off-road: - Lowering links only decrease the limited ground clearance. Stock height is mucho better in the dirt. - Tall windscreens are dangerous off-road. On road they're fine, but if you start bouncing around in the woods you run the risk of smacking it with your face. - Hard boxes will break your leg if you fall. I would never ride a bike off-road with them on. Again . . . on the street they're fine, but not so much in the dirt where things can go sideways. - Center stand takes away ground clearance again. Street only = good, off-road = suck The rest of it looks alright. |
