I justed watch a 6 part series of an inside look into Aushwitz. Pretty interesting, but remember the Japanese were 2X as vicious to people they captured as the Germans. Yet we never hear about it.

Occidental prejudice. The vast majority of the up to 30 million people killed by the Japanese, during WWII, were from various Asian countries. Large numbers of captured women were forced into brothels, to serve Japanese troops, in occupied territories. As it didn't happen to Westerners, it was grossly under-reported.

But that doesn't explain why incidents like Bataan and Wake Island aren't part of the collective consciousness.
