370 pound bench press*
I bench pressed 370 pounds* on Monday. Wait, there's that asterisk again. Is that like Motorcyclist magazine correcting strip times to sea level and cool temperature? Yes. I used the Masters Weightlifting coefficients for age: http://www.mastersweightlifting.org/forms/malone.htm. At 58, I pressed 255 (I weigh 205). Using the coefficient 1.449, that makes 255 into 370.
Seriously, I want to lift 260 the next time I go for a PR. I've started lifting 80 percent of my max, five reps, for five sets. 80 percent of 255 is 205 pounds. After five weeks of lifting 205 x 5reps x 5sets, I'll try for 260 or 265. |

I remember in highschool I had the 2nd strongest 1 push bench at 255lbs at 17. Which my chest is pretty damn weak for my size. But people would do those "Bench press 20lbs 10 times" and get those 350lb club shirts. I always laughed at them.
Now I could Squat super heavy weights and had crazy back strength. Even as a freshman no senior football player could match my pull downs. 3 of them went to college ball and one of them went pro. Congrats on the heavy lifting though. But you need more than 5 reps. 8-10 is what you really need. 12-15 if you are more fitness oriented than strength training.

ugh, i just started lifting again after a 2 month hiatus...
Next three weeks are gonna be hell till i get my body conditioned again. My elbow joints are SORE from curls today. Best I ever got on the bench for a one timer was around 210 I think. I weigh 160 though, so i figure those arent bad numbers. most people cant even put up their own body weight. |

When I was in high school, I weighed 175 and was doing reps with 300 and maxed out at 385. Of course I was in great shape then. I played football, baseball, worked out sometimes twice daily. Hell with any of that now
