Don't trust CNet
Just a word of warning: I used to consider CNet to be a trusted download source, but not since last weekend. I downloaded a backup/imaging tool trial from them and got hit with so many adware/spyware/toolbar pieces of shit, from that one installation, that I'm never going back.
YMMV

More than 20,000 downloads before me and I had never had an issue like this before.

You know, looking back that might have been the problem with my work laptop.
Now, if I could just figure out how to uninstall AVG and Norton from it I'd be a happy girl. |

If you have administrative rights, then removing AVG should be easy. It's a simple uninstall in the "Programs and Features" shortcut, in Control Panel. It should be as easy to remove Norton but, in practice, I've occasionally had issues with products like Norton 360. In one case I had to reinstall Windows, because 360 just couldn't be pried loose from the O/S.

It thinks its uninstalled, then shows back up and tells me to run it. Then, uninstall it again only to be told there is an error in the process. I tried reinstalling only to be told it is installed.

Heh.. I just spent a while fighting Norton not too long ago, actually. Their algorithm is really complex to combat viruses and what not from uninstalling it (or so they say.. I'd wager it's a final hurrah for forcing people to update it). It uninstalls easily with their official uninstaller.
Thanks for the heads up on CNET. I know Softpedia has a few programs to look out for as well. I've gotten into the habit of scanning my downloads with anti-virus and anti-malware programs. Can't be too cautious.
