going going gone... up north that is
Well was MIA all weekend and monday... went up north to visit the father in law... tried out my new luggage rack and it worked GREAT!!
Got it all loaded, covered, and strapped in. Not going anywhere! So we drove up Friday after I picked the wife up from work... traffic sucked per usual going north on Friday. 5.5 hrs later (due to a few stops along the way) and we make it by 10pm. Sat we ran down to the The 29th Annual Michigan Firemen's Memorial Festival and saw lots of stuff. Brinks was a big hit, we were stopped about every 25' asking about the dog and for every person doing that there was 3 more that looked, pointed, or talked about him as we walked by. After that we did nothing... we were pooped after the busy Friday and getting up early for the festival. Sunday, got up and ran over to the Leelanau penninsula (most western part of the lower penninsula of michigan) and got some pics of us against lake michigan as a back drop. Plus the father in law and step mother in law... When going there we have to go thru Traverse city. This is such a great town and the sights are great... here's just one shot that the wife knabbed from the car... After we visited the Leelanau Wine Cellars for a wine tasting... which was nice cause the wife loves wine and I don't mind some of it... plus the tasting is free. Then picked up some food in traverse city and headed home. Monday was hang around day... we didn't do much but I was able to get out the pistol and run thru some rounds with my make shift target... The father in law busted out his competition shooting 22 Rouger... it was like a cap gun considering shooting my 40 mins before... Look at the cute bullets But we did get the wife to shoot both (first time shooting a hand gun) the glock 40 and the 22 Rouger She didn't mind the 22 but didn't like the 40... I myself went right back to the 40.. Last edited by Gas Man; 09-23-2008 at 05:39 PM.. |

Then we helped out in the garden pulling onions... some how always get put to work when we stay... it don't help that the father in law has a nice spread about about 10 acres..
Scruffy the outside cat wanted in even though Brinks was in there Then after eating dinner, we hit the road... got a few shots of the country roads going back to the highway... Its not all straight and would be great to be on 2 wheels instead of 4 But does straighten out to long stretches of straight bordum But there are some nice twists... too bad I never get up here on the bike Made it home in 4 hrs... I figure including parking lot sitting, brinks did probably close to 18hrs in the SS. It was a good weekend to get away... but now its catch up at our home... Was up to almost 1am with the wife unpacking, laundry, ect... then today a bunch of errons, outside chores and clean the digusting SS... it was trashed... damn dirt roads and parking lots!! Makes me miss Traverse just a little... I lived there for 2.5 years before moving to Rochester,MI then to Nashville. If you guys like doing the wine tasting you should hit the Old Mission pennsula some time. Chateu Chantel is the best with views of both Bays in Traverse. A great little ride around it to.
So many boring straight roads in and out of that place... Man it sucked on a bike but then again I didn't ride slow. Leland is a great little town as well as Suttons Bay over on the the west side. Nice post and it holds true to your 56K killa status! Ya for cable high speed!

Gunther... we were going to hit that up but being on sunday we just ran out of time.
Cutty... yeah but first time... we won't get too picky. And why take the lincoln when the back of the SS is setup for him with the cage wall, the liner, toys, ect... |

Cool pics !! The bear pics are a trip...very cool to see. I've only been to Michigan once and it was nice. We drove up from here in NC. My ex is from Grand Rapids so we went there and over to Grand Haven (?)...very nice. We left there and headed to Toronto.
