Default ARRGH...the frustration!

Okay, I need to have a bit of a venting session here.

I'm a teacher. I can't find a job as a teacher. I took a job that will take me down another career path (teaching-ish related eventually).

Two of my close friends are high school teachers. As a teacher, they annoy me to NO end.

They constantly complain about how hard their job is (it's not..I've done it).

Neither of them prepare any materials (or at least hardly prepare). They don't get to school until just before class and then they leave right after class.

To top it off, the one has her mother do ALL of her marking for her?

It frustrates me to NO end that a profession I'd love to be a part of, but can't get into because of the ridiculous politics it takes to get hired around here, continues to employ people that are so obviously not interested in taking pride in their work and actually teaching.

Thank you for "listening"!

The answer is simple: Kill your friend and we all move up one step in rank.

I can think of a few things I'd like you to teach me.

Small town? I hate the kind of politics and ass kissing that goes on in small towns. And fighting relatives of relatives for positions that they are not even qualified for...

It's not a small town. It's just that in Ontario there are approximately 7000 teachers every year left without positions.

A few years ago there was a retirement boom so they opened up a lot more spots in education faculties. Now we're seeing how the boom has been filled but they haven't closed off that enrollment ($$$) so it's a profession that is hellaciously over-prescribed.

Basically you have to know someone to get in. They don't care about your experience, grades, etc. You just have to know someone.

That's a shame... this is why kids are the way they are today also... I remember my teachers, or some of them being so caring... just like you are sounding.

Best of luck and hope you get a gig soon...

Besides, who doesn't want a hot teacher that rides?

It's just kind of frustrating to me because it's bad for both the education system and teacher reputations.

I loved teaching and I tried my best with it. I'd be furious as a parent to know that something was marked by the teacher's mother rather than the teacher.
