Federal cigarette tax hike
http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/04/01/cigarette.tax/
I don't smoke but god damn. For the price of a carton of cigarettes($70 in MI) you can go get a hooker. It just as pleasurable and it's no more hazardous to your health. |

A carton here used to be like 25 bucks depending on if you went somewhere with discounts. I'll have to see how much more they've gone up. Used to be 3.65 for a pack with tax last semester, then jumped up for like 4.80 with tax now, and i think its getting more expensive. Looks like it might be time to quit smoking.

I have a fool proof plan that can save everybody from taxes on cigarettes. For a limited time only I will be selling this great plan for $49.95 plus shipping and handling.

I smoked my last one this morning...I hope... I'm tired of spending the money. I figure if I set the money aside in a savings account that I normally spend on smokes, I could pay for a trip to Nashville or three...I used to be a 3 pack a day smoker and cut WAYYYYY down already to about a half a pack a day, so I'm hoping this won't be TOO hard. It helps that Rob quit yesterday so I won't have to deal with him smoking. Generics are $6 a pack here in Upstate NY...

One of the seed companies I buy my vegetables from has tobacco. Grow your own! Johnny's Select Seeds has at least 2 varieties if I remember correctly..

Zig Zag's and any other paraphernalia is also getting a tax hike. So unless you make your own papers, you'll still be giving the government more money.
